Poligrafie dorm **
Cristina Pelerini
Comfort * Convenience ** Cost *** Cleanliness ** Security ***
The Poligrafie dorm is located in Pajuara area of Bucharest, far away from the University. By bus, it takes 40 minutes in normal traffic, more if there is a jam. Students who want to live here should take that into consideration.
The place looks very depressing at a first view. It is isolated and in the yard one finds garbage, drying laundry, broken benches and tables and huge piles of mud. They are replacing the water pipes. Food and laundry hang from most of the windows. The front door is always locked. It can be opened with a key or a card issued to residents. Outsiders cannot get in unless the guardian opens the door from the inside. Then they ask for ID and register the visitor's personal data. The guardian said visitors are not allowed after 10 p.m. and that students are advised not to go out between midnight and 6 a.m.
There are communal showers and bathrooms, one on each floor, which means many students share them. The dorm is mixed, so both girls and boys share these facilities. One student said there is non-stop hot water.
All the rooms are for four; how they look inside depends on the students living in them. Some were clean, others dirty. Usually, places where students live are happy and full of life. This one looked just sad and lonely.
